Collaborates with users to design, code, test, debug, and deploy databases that meet requirements and organizational needs. Being a Database Engineer writes queries, stored procedures and functions for database development. Monitors databases' performance, scalability, and security and modifies procedures to optimize database designs. Additionally, Database Engineer evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of database technologies and solid coding and computer system skills. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Database Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Database Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. The Team
The team supports Fidelity Brokerage database platform. We handle enabling and onboarding of new applications to cloud based databases, end to end support including physical database design, deployment and data replication, Performance assessment, consultation and tuning and also control access to the database..
The Role
The role entails supporting critical database and replication Infrastructure. The associate will help design, engineer and deploy on a breadth of RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies and platforms like Aurora Postgres, Aerospike, DynamoDB and other AWS database technologies.
The Expertise You Have
Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience
The Skills You Bring
An Expert in assessing Customer requirements and delivering appropriate cost optimized solutions
Expert in concepts of RDBMS, Data Modeling and Performance Tuning
Expert in NOSQL Concepts, Modelling and Performance Tuning
Expert Database Administrator for cloud database platforms – Aurora Postgres, DynamoDB (AWS certification is welcomed)
PGPL/SQL Expertise is a must.
Good Understanding of Connection Pooling and Load Balancing
Expert at DevOps and deployment technologies like Concourse, Jenkins/Jenkins Core, Terraform, uDeploy
A penchant for developing, consulting in, instilling and adhering to standards and practices of governance for Database constructs
A studious attitude towards developing Automation for scaling of both Infrastructure, maintenance and expansion tasks using PYTHON/RUBY/SHELL
Expert on Database compute and storage sizing on AWS plus keen on continuous Cost Study and Optimization
Well versed in AWS concepts and services like IAM, SSO, KMS/CMK,PG,PHZ,VPC,Route53, RDS, RDS-Proxy,Lambda,S3,EBS,CloudWatch,DMS etc..
Awareness of supporting technologies like DataDog, PGBouncer, Hikari would be a plus
Expert in Application Lifecycle Management tools like JIRA and Source Code Management Tools like BitBucket.
InDepth Understanding of the Aurora Storage Architecture
Expert in setting up monitoring and alerting for Cloud based solutions
