Job Description
This position is located in Bath, Maine and requires candidates to be onsite.
As a member of the Data Management team, you will be part of a multi-year digital modernization program with a significant data management component. The Data Warehouse Specialist will have both strategic and tactical responsibilities and you will develop, design, and maintain the complete spectrum of data assets and data processes. Design and implement all facets of the corporate data warehouse. A basic understanding of data mesh concepts is required as well. Day-to-day activities include determining the appropriate systems of record and systems of reference, ETL design and management, requirements gathering, and producing data products for consumption by business analysts.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for data warehousing in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with data visualization team to create effective data products for business analysis.
- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
- Oversee data collection and master data and database(s).
- Work with business analysts to identify, create, and deliver reports according to requirements.
- Create models for new data warehouse development and/or changes to existing data stores.
- Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses and leverage solutions to ensure data standards
- Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
- Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.
- Install and configure relevant components to ensure data warehouse access.
- Execute data warehouse configuration and performance tuning.
- Monitor system details within the data warehouse, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data systems.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- College diploma or university degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering and/or 8 years of equivalent work experience is required.
Required/Preferred Experience
- Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting multi-terabyte data warehouses.
- Experience with database platforms, including Oracle and MSSQL. Familiarity with DB2 is a plus.
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Hands-on experience with data architecture, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
- Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
- Proven project management experience.
- Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Basic understanding of Data Mesh architecture; hands on experience with Denodo is a plus.
- This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance.
