STEWARD

JOB SUMMARY:
The Steward will clean cooking utensils and service ware in order to provide cooks, bus persons, and food servers with appropriate equipment for guests’ dining experience. Also requires cleaning of physical surroundings.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish or pot machine properly
• Quickly wash all ware and replace in storage area as designated
• Keep dish machine properly cleaned and filled with water per hotel standards
• Operate burnishing machine to ensure proper finish on silverware
• Polish silver for proper appearance
• Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots, and pans promptly and completely so cooks can carry out their workr
• Keep the glass and cup rack organized with appropriate size and set at least 6” from floor

• Organize all ladles, spoons and ships in appropriate racks
• Keep pots, pans, plastic containers and hotel pans organized
• Perform general routine cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by the supervisor to adhere to health standards
• Clean and dry floors and rubber mats to avoid accidents involving slipping and falling
• Empty trash from garbage cans on a regular basis and keep cans clean
• Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Prior Hospitality experience preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Must be reliable and responsible
• Ability to understand English so to fully understand job requests
• Ability to speak Spanish preferred

• Physical strength and stamina are essential to this position due to high activity levels
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
