  • What You'll Do

Are you an inspirational and innovative leader who wants to make a difference in how we embed security within the critical infrastructure that run Cisco’s business? As highly visible Director of Data Security within Cisco’s Information Security organization, you will:

Drive the enterprise vision, strategy, and program execution to ensure Cisco’s data assets are adequately protected.

Lead Cisco’s enterprise data security program, consisting of direct and indirect reports (e.g. business partners).

Develop performance indicators and reporting framework to measure efficiency of program, support appropriate allocation of resources, and increase the data security maturity.

Ensure compliance with data security laws and applicable regulations and be able to look ahead and anticipate future changes.

Provide leadership and direction in assessing and evaluating data security risks and monitor compliance with appropriate data security policies and standards.

Partner with Cisco’s executive leadership and key IT partners to define, implement, and report on data security initiatives that support ground-breaking business programs.

    Who You'll Work With

“It starts with Trust” There has never been a better time to be a part of the Security & Trust Organization (S&TO) at Cisco. The company, customer and shareholders are increasingly aware of the role security, trust, data protection and privacy play in achieving impactful business objectives. Security is not only imperative to mitigating cyber risk, but also a key pillar of Cisco’s differentiation in the market. Trust is an accelerator for our customers that allows innovation and success to happen at the speed the market demands. Within S&TO, the Information Security (InfoSec) organization ensures that Cisco and the enterprise systems and data that enables it is secure every second of every day.

    Who You Are

You have a clear understanding of high-level business landscape including key strategic priorities and an equal ability to dig into the details and connect them back to the overall strategy and objectives.

You constantly think about what more can be done, with a bias for thinking ahead, adapting quickly and stepping up to own efforts without explicit direction.

You independently seek out information, solve conceptual problems, corral resources, and lead collective efforts to drive progress.

You understand that collaboration is imperative to everything we do, continually working across internal and external teams to understand nuances to problems and have an interest in bringing people together to drive a single, coordinated effort to solutioning.

You have the ability to define a vision and build and rally a team around a shared vision. You can clearly articulate challenges and present comprehensive, thoughtful solutions at the necessary depth across both technical teams and senior leadership.

You always operate with the mentality of what is best for the business and the team and consistently act in alignment to that focus.

You are an outstanding mentor that can not only attract but also develop technical talent and future leaders.

    Minimum Requirements

Demonstrated ability in a combination of risk management, information security, systems architecture, and IT roles.

Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO 27001 and NIST CSF.

Consistent track record and experience in developing data security programs and procedures, as well as successfully driving programs.

Prior experience successfully building and running an enterprise-wide data protection program.

Ability to build and lead strong teams.

Must be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision.

    Preferred Qualifications

Superb communication skills such that you are able to deliver complex security and risk related topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

High level of personal integrity and maturity to handle confidential matters and show appropriate level of judgment.

    Why Cisco?

#WeAreCisco. We are all unique, but collectively we bring our talents to work as a team, to develop innovative technology and power a more inclusive, digital future for everyone. How do we do it? Well, for starters – with people like you!

Nearly every internet connection around the world touches Cisco. We’re the Internet’s optimists. Our technology makes sure the data traveling at light speed across connections does so securely, yet it’s not what we make but what we make happen which marks us out. We’re helping those who work in the health service to connect with patients and each other; schools, colleges, and universities to teach in even the most challenging of times. We’re helping businesses of all shapes and sizes to connect with their employees and customers in new ways, providing people with access to the digital skills they need and connecting the most remote parts of the world – whether through 5G, or otherwise.

We tackle whatever challenges come our way. We have each other’s backs, we recognize our accomplishments, and we grow together. We celebrate and support one another – from big and small things in life to big career moments. And giving back is in our DNA (we get 10 days off each year to do just that).

We know that powering an inclusive future starts with us. Because without diversity and a dedication to equality, there is no moving forward. Our 30 Inclusive Communities, that bring people together around commonalities or passions, are leading the way. Together we’re committed to learning, listening, caring for our communities, whilst supporting the most vulnerable with a collective effort to make this world a better place either with technology, or through our actions.

So, you have colorful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us! #WeAreCisco
