The Director of Personalization and Data Science is responsible for defining and delivering our customer personalization strategy leveraging our robust customer data. This encompasses the supervision of the team members, process, and technology to support customer data modeling and insights, data engineering, and targeted campaigns (prioritization, setup, execution, and measurement). In addition, this role oversees the measurement and reporting of all digital analytics (such as digital, social, email, etc.) and provides recommendations to the business. The expectation is that this role will drive customer retention and spend growth while increasing customer satisfaction through the facilitation of highly relevant and cross-channel communications. This role will also drive improvements in our digital/social investments.
This role will provide cross-functional leadership with regular updates on progress (including preparation for key internal and external meetings) and manage the associated budget and resources. Periodically, this role will need to assist the Customer Insights organization on more time sensitive and advanced analysis. This role may be asked to participate in broader enterprise strategic initiatives.
The Director of Personalization and Digital Analytics will direct the work of the Senior Manager of Campaigns, the Analysts responsible for Data Engineering, Data Science, and Digital Analytics, as well as external technology and analytical support agencies. This role will collaborate closely with Customer Insights, CRM, Neighbor’s Club, National Marketing, Digital, Omni-channel, and IT functions to align and deliver cross-channel personalization. Networking with non-competitive retailers and presenting at key conferences related to this specialty will be encouraged based on internal alignment.
This role, as a senior marketing leader, is expected to exemplify our missions and values and help recruit and develop the talent in our customer strategy, personalization, and analytic functions.
Experience: 8-10 years’ experience in Analytics, IT, Data science, Reporting, Statistical Analysis, or a related field required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Analytics or Marketing required. MBA preferred.
Experience leading internal and external customer analytics and personalization resources
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with coding languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar
Proven ability to translate business goals into analytical projects and recommending solutions
Direct experience with large-volume customer data sets required
Experience with personalization suites (Adobe Campaign, Target, DAM, Analytics)
Experience with connecting multiple disparate data sources in the course of analysis required
Experience with cloud based analytical tools required (MS Azure, Snowflake, or similar)
Experience with visualization tools required (Tableau, PowerBI, or similar)
Experience managing budgets and resources
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Ability to speak, read and write effectively in the English language
