Job Description
Underwriting Analyst M-F 8AM - 5PM local time; training may occur 8AM - 5PM Eastern Time Zone Contract - W2 Start: July 2023 - December 2023 $50-56 hr.
Position Summary: Performs underwriting analysis and risk assessment for new small group contracts and accountings
Duties:
- Assigned cases/book of business include multiple product types, funding arrangements and/or rating methodologies.
- Prepares and delivers moderately complex new business quotes.
- Complexity of work increases as technical skills progress.
- Independently reviews work for accuracy and recommends pricing and/or accounting alternatives based on financial analysis, underwriting principals, and business strategy.
- Anticipates questions and formulate responses.
- Utilizes advanced functionality of underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials to produce accurate quotes.
- Applies underwriting guidelines and grants underwriting exceptions/financial variances for their assigned cases within the authority limit for the position.
- Ensures the pricing supports the quote strategy.
Min. Qualifications: 3 to 5 years' experience in health insurance underwriting/accounting concepts, pricing methodologies and/or funding arrangements. - Ability to work independently and in teams - Demonstrated success in collaborating with others to meet/exceed expectations - Experience providing clear and concise written and verbal communications - Critical thinking, detail oriented and strong analytical skills - Desire to learn -Collaborate with internal partners such as Actuarial and Sales
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
