Data Management Director manages the planning, designing, and developing of an organization's databases. Develops policies and procedures to lead and manage a team of database engineers. Being a Data Management Director designs and modifies procedures to ensure the performance, scalability, and security of databases. Monitors and optimizes database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing. Additionally, Data Management Director evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates and collaborates with stakeholders to determine future organizational needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Data Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Data Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     REPORTS TO:  SVP, Finance 
     
    SUMMARY: 
     
    This person will support the SVP of Finance reporting to him as well as the Executive Leadership Team in leading the following efforts: 
    • Formulating and Executing Aligned’s Energy Supply Strategy.
    • Partnering with Utilities and Customers to identify opportunities to provide well-located, firm demand for Utilities while progressing their initiatives.
    • Leading Hedging Efforts.
    • Collaborating with customers on establishing and executing their procurement strategies.
    • Negotiating Commodities Trading Agreements – ISDAs, EEIs, etc.
    • Evaluating and executing long-term physical, financial, and renewable products – PPAs, VPPAs, RECs, etc.
    • Negotiating and Tracking Utility Rate Cards.
    • Negotiating Electrical Supply Agreements and inducements to prioritize Aligned’s load with utilities.
    • Monitoring Scope 1 & 2 emissions and collaborating with customers to source and report their Scope 2 emissions with Aligned.
    • Supporting evaluation of new solutions and technologies.
    • Cogeneration of primary load via natural gas or other technologies.
    • Grid paralleling to export power and optimize self-generation economics.
    • New Technologies such as SMRs, hydrogen, multi-hour battery storage, onsite diesel alternatives.
     
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
     
    5-15 years’ experience in the utility industry that could include: 
    • Commodities trading directly or in a support function of Risk, FP&A, Accounting, or Scheduling (experience with ICE, CME, NYMEX, NGX exchanges and/or bilateral trading via ISDA’s, EEI’s, etc.). 
    • An engineer with direct operational experience with generation assets (coal, combined cycle gas, nuclear, and/or renewables like wind or solar – strong preference that they have been in/around thermal). 
    • Education can be Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or can be trumped by experience well north of 5 years in energy and finance/accounting in general.
