Data Management Director manages the planning, designing, and developing of an organization's databases. Develops policies and procedures to lead and manage a team of database engineers. Being a Data Management Director designs and modifies procedures to ensure the performance, scalability, and security of databases. Monitors and optimizes database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing. Additionally, Data Management Director evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates and collaborates with stakeholders to determine future organizational needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Data Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Data Management Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Description

    We are searching for a seasoned Director of Data Management to lead our data management initiatives within our Data Insights Practice. The Director of Data Management will play a crucial role in shaping and executing data management strategies for our clients, ensuring data integrity, security, and usability. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in data management within consultancy environments, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of data technologies and best practices.

    Expertise you bring 

    • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive data management strategies and solutions for clients, aligning with their business objectives and technical requirements.
    • Provide expert guidance on data governance, data quality, data architecture, and data security to clients, helping them establish robust data management frameworks.
    • Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to understand their data needs, challenges, and opportunities, and propose tailored data management solutions to address them effectively.
    • Oversee the design and implementation of data architectures, including data models, data pipelines, and data warehouses, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
    • Define and enforce data governance processes and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices across client organizations.
    • Drive data quality initiatives, including data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation, to enhance the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of client data.
    • Lead a team of data management consultants, providing mentorship, coaching, and support to foster their professional growth and ensure project success.
    • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and proactively address any issues or risks to ensure the timely and successful completion of data management projects.
    • Stay abreast of emerging data management trends, technologies, and methodologies, and provide thought leadership and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on data management matters, both internally and externally,  participating in client meetings, workshops, and presentations as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in data management, with a focus on consultancy or professional services environments.
    • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex data management projects for clients across various industries and domains.
    • Deep expertise in data management principles, practices, and technologies, including data governance frameworks, data quality tools, and data integration techniques.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of client organizations.
    • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in managing and mentoring teams of data management professionals.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data challenges and develop innovative solutions.
    • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and compliance standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
    • Proficiency in data management tools and technologies, such as data governance platforms, ETL tools, and cloud-based data services.
    • Relevant certifications, such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional), are a plus.
