Description

The Statement Insert Operator/Balance Clerk is responsible for data entry and the correcting and balancing of deposited items in a multi-bank imaging processing environment. Other responsibilities include printing and processing for mailing, bank statements on automated inserting equipment in a multi-bank processing environment. Operator is responsible for running bank statements on inserting machine equipment efficiently in a multi-bank image processing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Balancing

• Balances and verifies that debits and credits on grouped check and bank transaction items are equal.
• Processes and balances each type of capture work by bank (B/C, Teller, ATM, Merchant, Mobile)
• Enters data from automatic item collection rejects for all applications through a PC terminal.
• Investigates, and balances reject reentry of encoded information, and follows duplicate item/verification process.

Statement Processing 

• Operates the inserting machine to accurately and efficiently process statements, overdraft notices or other forms.
• Creates statements out of the AFS system, sends print jobs to the network printers for processing.
• Separates Icore reports by bank to match them with statements, and then, renders statements on the automated mail inserting machine. 
• Prepares, folds, and stuffs bank statements using folding insertion office equipment.

General Item Processing Objectives

• Maintains standards and schedules established by DCI’s Item Processing department.
• Informs supervisor of problems and assists in resolution.
• Assists in maintaining continuous quality control. 
• Performs daily equipment/machine clean-up and maintenance and at end of each shift.
• Assists in evaluating current procedures and schedules, as requested, and suggests ideas to efficiently expedite item processing, and statement processing.

Other      

• Provides back up to all functions and duties performed by other balance room employees.
• Provides back up to specified item processing functions and duties performed by other IP employees as requested.
• Ensures that processing and balance room areas as well as personal work area, and other shared departmental work areas are maintained in a neat and organized manner.

Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED.
• General bank operations experience preferred, but not required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS

• Introductory knowledge of financial data processing, balancing, and bank bookkeeping preferred.
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong visual error detection skills.
• Basic data-entry proficiency. 
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organization skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. – 40 lbs. regularly.
• Extended periods of standing and/or sitting.
• High finger dexterity and strength in hands, arms, and shoulders.
• Good vision.
