Data Center Director directs and optimizes all operations of a data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security. Designs operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems within a data center to maximize operational efficiency. Being a Data Center Director monitors environmental conditions to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and power supply to prevent downtime and protect hardware from damage. Ensures timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients. Additionally, Data Center Director coordinates with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Center Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Data Center Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. They will provide problem resolution or refer more complex issues to a Sr. Support Engineer. Maintenance of inventory and documentation of activity will demonstrate strong organizational skills. Must be available and on-call 24x7x365.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, diagnoses, and troubleshoots hardware/server issues with focus on responsiveness; provides issue resolution
- Maintains inventory and documentation of activity
- Creates own service tickets, updates, and closes
- Communicates before and after repair work windows via ticket and email to client
- Break/Fix
Qualifications
- Previous experience working on on HPE, DELL, Oracle (SUN), or Lenovo Servers
- Strong problem solving and self-management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- 5 years’ experience servicing hardware as specified or utilized in customer environment
- Familiarity with ticket-tracking software (ServiceNow preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
