Data Center Director directs and optimizes all operations of a data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security. Designs operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems within a data center to maximize operational efficiency. Being a Data Center Director monitors environmental conditions to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and power supply to prevent downtime and protect hardware from damage. Ensures timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients. Additionally, Data Center Director coordinates with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Data Center Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Data Center Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary

    To serve the staff and members of Samaritan Ministries International (SMI) by collaborating with peers to drive the prioritization of data solution deliverables focused on member experience and ministry base operations for the ministry. The Director of Data Solutions is responsible for leading and maturing a data engineering, business intelligence, and data solutions organization that builds and operates data solutions for software applications, business intelligence solutions, and data integration solutions to support our membership base. They are also responsible for developing quarterly and annual technology roadmaps that drive ministry outcomes in conjunction with senior leadership product vision and goals. The Director of Data Solutions will work in partnership with ministry teams to ensure that ministry and technical requirements align with organization data strategy and target architecture driven by the Vice President of Technology.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead data analytics capabilities to drive vision, process, and overall data insights
    • Respond to requests for data for analysis purposes
    • Apply analytics and data science to deepen relationships with clients by uncovering actionable insights
    • Champion the use of new tools and techniques to maximize big data opportunities and leverage latest data engineering thinking and techniques
    • Create new data-driven approaches for the purpose of generating business insights through data analytics, automation, and data visualization
    • Provide delivery guidance for various technology areas within data management, business intelligence and analytics
    • Explore advanced big data analytics in emerging areas such as machine learning and artificial intelligence
    • Develop and maintain an enterprise data strategy and technology roadmap reflecting both client needs and technology innovations

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Four-year degree from an accredited university or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 10 Years supervisory experience in a business intelligence, Data Science, Data Analytics or Data Engineering product environment.
    • In-depth understanding of iterative software development practices and related technological advances as a whole.
    • Demonstrate understanding of financial reporting and financial impact of business decisions.
    • Project management experience is preferred, both Agile and Waterfall methods.

    Additional Information

    • Tasks are normally conducted in a regular office environment, requiring use of computer, mouse, drawing tablet, and other standard office equipment. Staff usually remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
    • Staff will observe safety principles while performing the duties of the position.
    • Staff may be required to travel and have a valid driver’s license.
