Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for a Data Architect in our any of our offices. As a Data Architect you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data infrastructure of our law firm. Your expertise will drive the design, implementation and optimization of data systems, ensuring seamless access to critical information for authorized personnel. Collaborating closely with department heads, you’ll identify internal and external data sources, establish robust data storage solutions, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Data Infrastructure Design: Develop and maintain a comprehensive data architecture that aligns with the firm’s business objectives. This includes designing data models, schemas, and storage solutions.
· Data Governance and Security: Implement best practices for data governance, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Establish security protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
· Data Integration and ETL Processes: Create efficient data pipelines by integrating disparate data sources. Design, optimize and standardize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
· Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with legal teams, IT professionals, and business leaders to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
· Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and enhance data performance, addressing bottlenecks and ensuring scalability.
· Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks, validation procedures, and data cleansing techniques to maintain accurate and reliable data.
· Emerging Technologies: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies related to data management, analytics, and visualization.
· Lower Environment Management: Devise and implement repeatable processes to refresh lower environments with production data including encryption or masking where necessary.
· Mentoring and Change Management: Work with team members to build their skills and knowledge in the data space. Define change management policies for database artifacts including documentation requirements and source control.
· Support: Provide after-hours emergency support when necessary.
· Other: Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Proficiency in SQL Server databases and data modeling.
· Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).
· Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools.
· Understanding of data governance, privacy and security practices.
· Excellent oral/written communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the firm.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on implementation.
· Knowledge and experience with Boomi and/or Azure SQL a plus.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CAPABILITIES
· The ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time daily.
· Ability to lift 25 pounds.
· Must be able to operate firm computer and soft (Teams) phone for video conferencing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years in data architecture, database design and data engineering. Experience in legal or professional services environments is preferred.
NORMAL WORK HOURS
This position is exempt and not eligible for overtime compensation. Regular office hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

The pay range for this position is $84,000 to $140,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on overall skills and experience. The salary range may vary based on market location.
