Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Cytotechnologist will join a hospital that offers a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services to the region, Cardiovascular Services and Neurosciences, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, Wound Care and Oncology – all are available at this outstanding medical center in the beautiful lake and river lands of Eastern Texas.

    Reporting to the Inpatient Laboratory Operations and Technical Manager, and working closely with an excellent team of Pathologists, the Hospital Cytotechnologist will perform a diverse set of tests and tasks in one of the region’s leading health systems. The Hospital Cytotechnologist will observe and interpret changes in cells to help identify disease, cancer, and other abnormalities.

    Working alongside pathologists, microbiologists, cytologists, and histologists, the Cytotechnologist will be immersed in a culture and environment where learning and growth are a natural part of the job.
