Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. - Arrive at work in the morning – no night shifts here!
- This position performs routine and special diagnostic procedures related to cancer detection.
- Must examine cytology specimens; detect and dot pertinent cells; and develop and communicate a reasonable differential diagnosis.
- Must have the ability to sign out gynecologic specimens that are negative for intraepithelial lesions or malignancy.

Required Licenses- ASCP Board of Registry certified in cytotechnology, CT (ASCP) or eligible required.
Other Requirements- Graduate of an accredited 12-month cytotechnology training program.
