Job Description/Scop of Work: Sanford Federal, is seeking a Cytotechnologist who is certified in their respective fields by an accredited program (i.e., American Society of Clinical Pathologists) to provide services and technical assistance to the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS) area within the North Texas Veterans Health Care Center.
Responsibilities:
· Cytotechnologist shall verify patient identification.
· Cytotechnologist shall prepare specimens.
· Process specimens
· Accession laboratory orders.
· Pulling lab orders from the computer system.
· Filing results of completed laboratory tests.
· Maintaining adequate stock of supplies.
· Receiving specimens and accompanying request forms.
· Accessing orders by use of computer system.
· Promoting a harmonious and cooperative working environment.
· Following all North Texas Health Care System guidelines and VA policies.
· Maintains adequate stock of supplies and rotates stock as needed.
· Assists in cleaning and maintaining all used equipment and workspace daily.
· Capable of reading Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and adhering them to the current laboratory process.
· Clearly communicating the daily status and problems about the laboratory output to team members.
