Custom Tailor develops, designs, makes, and repairs tailored garments. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Custom Tailor is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Custom Tailor performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Responsibilities:
- Perform alterations and repairs on garments using a sewing machine
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with fitting and garment adjustments
- Ensure the quality of work meets or exceeds customer expectations
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Skills:
- Proficient in using a sewing machine and other tailoring tools
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and different fabric types
- Ability to accurately measure and fit garments on customers
- Basic math skills for taking measurements and making adjustments
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Previous experience in fashion retail or as a tailor is preferred
