Curriculum Specialist, Sr. designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist, Sr. consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist, Sr. writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Sr. Curriculum Development Specialist is a twelve-month position that will work collaboratively with content area experts, teachers, administrators, and members of the Department of Catholic Schools’ team to develop curriculum documents and aligned resources. In addition, this position will work with teachers to understand and implement the written curriculum, and with administrators to understand and be able to monitor the implementation of the curriculum.
The individual will coach and provide constructive feedback to teachers and administrators. The Sr. Curriculum Development Specialist must have successful experience developing and revising curricular materials.
The individual will need strong knowledge of formative and summative assessment, curriculum calendars, curriculum maps, standards, and the ability to integrate our Catholic faith into the curriculum. The Sr. Curriculum Development Specialist will report to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools as a member of the Academic Services Team.
The Sr. Curriculum Development Specialist will be goal-oriented and able to manage large projects while assisting local schools with their individual needs and questions. Further, excellent preparation, collaboration, communication, and presentation skills are required to lead and empower continuous improvement.
