Curriculum Manager manages the design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Oversees skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Manager consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Manager provides outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Participates in the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training. Establishes metrics used to evaluate training effectiveness and analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs. May select and manage vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Curriculum Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Curriculum Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Overview

    Under the supervision of the Lower School Principal, the French Curriculum Program Manager will be responsible for the pedagogical leadership of the French curriculum PreK-5 in conjunction with the other members of the educational team, aligning best practices in 21st-century education with the mission of the school. 

    This position will begin one week before teachers return to school in August.

     Key Responsibilities:

    • Work in collaboration with the Lower School English Curriculum Program Manager to harmonize and update the bilingual program in the Lower School in line with the French curriculum and the California Standards
    • Lead teams of teachers in the effective delivery  of the French curriculum and French assessments
    • Research, develop, and foster implementation of innovative, research-based curriculum and assessments, including approaches that support neurodiversity
    • Act as a liaison with our French networks, fostering connections that enhance the student experience and provide professional learning and leadership opportunities for our faculty and staff
    • Select and support faculty in the use of  digital tools in collaboration with the Academic Technology coordinator 
    • Coach and mentor faculty under the direction of the Lower School Principal 
    • Prepare, organize and lead pedagogical meetings to facilitate faculty growth and support  innovative pedagogies
    • In collaboration with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning, lead ongoing pedagogical review cycles across the Maternelle and Lower School
    • Maintain curricular documentation for internal and external purposes and contribute necessary data to schoolwide data repositories
    • Participate in the elaboration of a yearly staff development plan and assist in the search for staff development resources, including digital media, that support educational innovation.
    • Foster robust professional learning for all PK-5 faculty and staff, including designing and delivering internal professional learning opportunities and identifying relevant external opportunities
    • Develop and maintain digital documentation of programs and school activities for faculty, family and caregiver, and external audiences, including online curriculum resources, class pages, and the public website
    • Facilitate the visibility of the program and projects in the school community through communication with other members of the lower school team (articles in School publications and website)
    • Assist teachers in selecting and implementing materials to provide a robust learning environment which fosters student intellectual, social, and emotional development and furthers our Commitment to Equity
    • Assist in redesigning and updating report cards
    • Lead  the implementation of the “Projet d’école” with the Lower School English Curriculum Program Manager and the Principal; collaborate in planning and implementation of future curricular and pedagogical initiatives
    • Lead the analysis of data related to the student experience and educational outcomes in grades PK-5 and foster data-driven decision-making
    • Foster high-quality relationships with families, including shaping communication about student progress and designing and delivering parent learning opportunities
    • Participate in all relevant teacher meetings and after school parent meetings and student events
    • Promote the French American International School Mission, Values, and Commitment to Equity, and support the implementation of strategic goals

     

    Qualifications and skills

    • Excellent communication skills in English and French
    •  5 years teaching experience
    • Previous experience with curriculum coordination and development. 
    • Primary Teaching Credential or Masters in Education
    • Evidence of ongoing in-service training with regard to enhancing student learning, assessment, and curriculum development.
    • Knowledge of primary school programs
    • Leadership skills
    • Organizational skills
    • Computer skills
    • Experience in an international school setting

     

    Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. 

     

    Position starts August 2024

    Salary range for this position $100,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
