The City of Kettering Engineering Department is seeking to fill Regular Part-time Crossing Guard positions to work 10-12 hours per week during the school year. Job responsibilities include the safety and the efficient crossing of the street by school children within and in the immediate vicinity of school crosswalks, daily supervision of school safety patrol and elementary school children in their travel to and from school at designated intersections along city roadways. This position also participates in periodic functions or events in relation to student school safety patrols or public outreach and will be a visible representative of the City of Kettering.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable means of transportation. Should have working knowledge of specialized instructions involving safe crossing gaps, pedestrian and bicycle regulations, motor vehicle laws, operational standards for the functioning of efficient, safe and effective student safety patrol and the functions of an adult crossing guard. Prior experience in working with children, involvement in traffic safety and life safety related programs is preferred.
Compensation:
Pay range is $15.53 to $21.34 per hour. Benefits include paid sick leave, vacation leave and holiday pay.
