FTE .13 8-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-4 p.m.
Salary: $13.40-$14.92. Non-benefit eligible, non-exempt, 183 days 8 holidays 2 personal days..
Job Responsibilities:
- Obtains the attention and cooperation of students and other pedestrians.
- Assembles students behind curb lines awaiting traffic lulls or signal changes.
- Interrupts traffic and escorts pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safely.
- Instructs students in proper procedures for safe street crossing.
- Reports any unusual circumstances, unsafe conditions or students who do not adhere to safe street crossing procedures to appropriate school officials.
- Takes appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to escort pedestrians across streets.
- Knowledge of basic safety rules.
- Knowledge of basic safe driving rules and procedures.
- Ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic.
- Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Skill, dedication, and aptitude for working with students.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
