    The Department of Criminal Justice Services is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve as a full-time Criminal Justice Grant Program Specialist focusing on the state funded Witness Protection grant fund and other related grant programs. This exciting opportunity allows you to assist law enforcement professionals and agencies meet their funding needs, to purchase much needed equipment or to establish innovative projects designed to reduce crime and violence.

    As a member of this team, you will work with current and prospective grantees to develop and carryout successful local criminal justice projects and programs. This position assists our law enforcement and criminal justice agency constituents in obtaining federal and state grant awards funded from various sources administered by the Department. The position manages the day-to-day monitoring and provides technical assistance to grantees. The position also helps solve problems and engages in grant review, monitoring, and management processes. Additionally, the position participates in the development and presentation of grant writing training to improve constituent applications and program outcomes.

    What you will do:
    • Assist in the design and implementation of a statewide Witness Protection Grant program for localities.
    • Monitor state funded grants to localities by providing technical assistance and consultation regarding administration of grants.
    • Direct the development of guidance and training to grantees and criminal justice professionals, and development of resources, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure the agency remains in compliance with all required state reporting related to grant funds.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Documented experience and knowledge of grant monitoring procedures.
    • Document experience in applying state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Experience and ability to perform complex technical duties, such as reviewing and prioritizing budget expenditures and reimbursements under multiple programs.
    • Considerable documented experience working with criminal justice agencies in a professional capacity.
    • Considerable documented experience in preparing reports and making presentations to management, staff, and/or stakeholders.
    • Considerable experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and e-mail software to include a high proficiency in excel spreadsheets.
    • Documented experience working as an active, contributing team member, as well as an independent and self-motivated employee.
    • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to think strategically and cross culturally, and independently implement new initiatives and projects.
    • Ability to articulate, both orally and in written form, clear and concise program objectives and goals and summarize achievements of programs in reports and other documents as requested.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments, changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.


    Additional Considerations

    • Documented experience in managing multiple grant programs including experience with the grant application process, reviewing, monitoring, and providing technical assistance related to grants.
    • Documented experience writing grants.
    • Documented professional experience with grants management in a government agency.


    Special Instructions

    Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work. The candidate selected for the position must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and complete and submit a Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) which will be entered into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization. The individual may also be responsible for submitting an annual Statement of Personal Economic Interest. In addition, the selected candidate who begins original employment or re-employment in this position must serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment. The anticipated starting salary range is $64,000 to $67,400 plus the state’s benefits package.
