  • Duties

    • Investigates cases of possible fraudulent, wasteful or abusive injury claims submitted by U.S. Army civilian employees for consideration under the Federal Employee's Compensation Act (FECA).
    • Independently plans, develops, and conducts complex, long-term investigations into alleged or suspected fraudulent claims for benefits.
    • Plans and determines the proper course of action and pursues the investigation until sufficient evidence is gathered to complete or close the investigations.
    • Analyzes information to determine if additional investigation is warranted and independently conducts follow up investigations as needed.
    • Reports suspected irregularities by medical or other providers as well as management or administrative irregularities.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assists conducting white collar, medical insurance fraud, waste, and/or abuse investigations of violations of employees compensation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a Department of Army (DA) FORM 5019-R and/or DA FORM 7412, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program, or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
