Under supervision of attorney, provides non-legal services to assist clients in resolution of case and prevention of recidivism.
- Case management: Receive tasks on case management system, determine whether task involves records gathering, witness contact, or other work. Reply to task with acceptance. Comment on task with updates including what has been done, what will be done, any questions, and notes regarding due dates. Upon completion, note in tasks what has been completed.
- Investigation: Upon receipt of an investigation request from case management task, review available file and records. Speak with client (by visit at jail or appointment in office or elsewhere as needed) when necessary. Find requested documents and information. Interview identified witnesses and document interviews in case management software. Play recordings of body worn camera footage, interrogations, forensic interviews and other audio/video recordings for clients. Go to the scene of alleged crimes to locate witnesses, take pictures, and test theories of defense. Testify in court when necessary.
- Client Intake: Meet with prospective clients at local facilities and in office to complete application for services. Make initial determination of client indigency. Answer questions about the indigency verification process.
- Administrative: Scan files upon file closure. Process discovery as it is received.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Providing assistance and problem resolution to clients, staff, other agencies, and/or general public;
- Receiving and handling mail;
- Preparing business correspondence using standard English grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- Preparing written reports using standard English grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- Processing and posting data and checking for accuracy;
- Resolving client issues/questions;
- Entering updates accurately into case management software;
- Visiting local jails to meet with clients;
- Testifying in Court based upon knowledge and research;
- Driving to Court, Jail, or other location.
Education: High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree preferred {Please note: Upon job offer, you will be required to provide proof of education. Be sure to have the appropriate documents readily available.}
Experience: Public facing roles involving increasing responsibility

Licensing Requirements:
Valid state driver’s license required or ability to obtain.

This position requires staff call up in an emergency situation.
This position requires less than 50% travel from office to other locations.
