    Job Description Summary: As SVP, this executive will be responsible for the transformation of the global credit risk organization – driving across all disciplines within credit risk - data, model, strategy, policy and team. This leader will be part of the SMB and Financial Services leadership team, reporting to the EVP of SMB and Financial Services team.

    Job Description:

    We are seeking someone who:

    • Has recently undertaken a transformation and uplifted the credit risk function embracing the digital revolution in lending across all functions whether direct or indirect
    • Has experience at a digital lender and understands and has implemented automation at every step of the process from data ingestion to modeling to collections to ensure a seamless experience and an improved credit risk outcome
    • Has experience running and testing machine learning models and understands the complexity of teh regulatory environment in ensuring model quality and validation
    • Has worked in a matrixed environment and can collaborate and lead with influence to effectuate outcomes across all areas including marketing, finance, product, data, among others
    • Has experience in both the consumer and merchant lending and deposit spaces
    • Has experience designing an organizational structure that can scale through both internal resources and external consultants to create efficient outcomes
    • Has experience building new capabilities utilizing state of the art tools and working with network partners and third-party vendors to ensure that PayPal is on the leading edge

    This person will be responsible for interfacing with risk product on risk architecture including the optimal sandbox environment, data sources, third party tools to bring into the environment. This person will be responsible for co-developing the tools that enable the credit risk strategies for the consumer and merchant lending and deposit businesses. This is a crucial role managing credit policy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and optimizing credit processes to support the company's financial objectives. This individual will drive significant transformation and innovation across the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Credit Risk Management: Overseeing all aspects of credit risk management within the organization, including credit policy development, credit scoring, credit underwriting, and credit risk monitoring.

    • Credit Policy Development: Developing and maintaining credit policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

    • Credit Underwriting: Establishing and maintaining underwriting standards for various lending products, ensuring that credit decisions are made in accordance with established policies and guidelines.

    • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Assessing credit risk exposure across various portfolios and developing strategies to mitigate risk, including the implementation of risk management tools and techniques.

    • Portfolio Monitoring and Analysis: Monitoring the performance of the credit portfolio, analyzing trends, identifying areas of potential risk, and recommending appropriate actions to mitigate risk exposure.

    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines related to credit risk management, including fair lending practices and consumer protection laws.

    • Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development of strategic initiatives and business plans by providing insights and recommendations related to credit risk management.

    • Team Leadership and Development: Leading a team of roughly 200 credit risk professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure effective execution of credit risk management strategies.

    • Collaboration with Other Departments: Ongoing collaborating across the organization such as finance, operations, and technology to drive initiatives aimed at optimizing credit risk management processes and improving overall business performance.

    Qualifications:

    • 15 years' experience in Credit Risk with a strong emphasis on business transformation, general management, P&L accountability, and end-to-end business direction and leadership.

    • Extensive experience in transformational roles – demonstrating dynamic outcomes in credit-risk management, with a proven track record of success driving clear results in leadership roles across multiple credit portfolios.

    • In-depth knowledge of consumer credit, credit analysis, risk modeling, regulatory compliance, and change management.

    • Strong understanding of financial markets, economic trends, and industry best practices.

    • Discipline of strategic and analytic acumen, with a high level of intellectual agility and capacity for original and innovative thoughts.

    • Ability to make strategic decisions and lead a diverse team through transformation in a dynamic and challenging environment.

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and transformational leadership skills.

    • BS/BA degree required; MBA preferred
