    Position Summary

    This role is a direct contributor in detecting, monitoring, and resolving external/internal fraudulent activity affecting the Credit Union and its membership, including the ATM/debit card program. In addition, the position would also have certain responsibilities with the Credit Union’s Identity Theft/Red Flags Program, Fraud Program, and Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Program.

    Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    Activity Monitoring

    • Compiles, analyzes, and reviews account transactions and member behaviors for potential suspicious/fraudulent activity as identified from internal and external sources; makes recommendations and takes independent or directed action to resolve associated issues; provides support to employees who report suspicious activity
    • Leverages the Credit Union’s Fraud & Anti-Money Laundering software and related systems to identify, track and report on high-risk and/or suspicious activity; provides analysis to enhance the overall operation and effectiveness of the Fraud & Anti-Money Laundering software

    ATM/Debit Card/Credit Card Fraud Prevention and Dispute Processing

    • Maintains all aspects of the Credit Union’s ATM/debit card/credit card error resolution program in adherence to regulatory and card issuer requirements
    • Cardholder dispute entries and chargeback requests
    • Assists in the oversight of the Credit Union’s debit/credit card fraud prevention program and the use of related monitoring systems, including escalating fraud trends for review
    • Fraud alerts
    • Compromised card management
    • Initiates and/or receives direct communication with cardholders, card vendors, and internal Credit Union personnel to facilitate fraud prevention and dispute processes

    Other Duties as Requested by Management

    • General Ledger reconciliation and monthly reconciliation preparation
    • Manages inbound calls to the Risk Queue
    • Facilitates Fraud Training to new and existing staff
    • Development of department procedures to create efficiencies
    • Additional duties based upon department needs

    Knowledge and Skills

    • High School diploma or GED certificate required; Associates Degree preferred
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Banking Services; knowledge in Anti-Money Laundering/Fraud applications and ATM/Debit Card maintenance and dispute systems preferred, but not required.
    • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a role that analyzes, interprets, and reports data.

    • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation.
    • Must be able to operate routine office equipment.
    • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.

    Working Conditions

    • Must be able to work after normal business hours, and/or extended hours, whenever required or requested by management.
    • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
    • Must be able to travel to off-site locations; maintain adequate transportation.
