    Leads and supports the Risk Management Team. Manages all facets of the risk management function, including insurance, claims management, risk control and risk mitigation to ensure financial protection of assets and reduce and control operational, hazard and strategic risks. Supports contract management processes. Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management.

    Responsibilities

    • Compiles required underwriting information and applications for renewal process on all insurance products. Works with the Director of Risk Management to assess type of financial product to secure.
    • Assists in performing contract reviews and analysis of financial and operational risks and coverage. Review of contract terms and conditions to verify that they follow company policies and all applicable federal, state and/or Tribal regulations.
    • Ensures that all records are accurate and up to date.
    • Reviews and maintains contracts within contract repository.
    • Ensures compliance of both Team Member and guest actions are performed in accordance with regulatory compliance requirements such as OSHA and IHS/ food codes, state/tribal compact requirements, workers' compensation, and employment law issues by the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Manages the design, implementation, and rollout of safety programs and related training.
    • Conducts and/or assigns workplace hazard inspections with the team, both preventive and reactionary, to reduce potential and present risk exposures.
    • Manages the claims management program to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims in accordance with standard, Tribal and internal claims handling best practices.
    • Ensures accurate and timely administration of claims in collaboration with third-party claims administrator for general liability, worker's compensation, and property claims.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with claims adjusters, outside legal counsel, occupational clinics, and other claims-related parties.
    • Assesses all decisions made by third-party claim administrators to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    • Manages the Modified/Return-to-Work program to ensure the availability and safe performance of modified work for all injured Team Members with work restrictions.
    • In collaboration with the Director of Risk Management, establishes procedures for delivery of claim information (i.e., reports, investigation, metrics, and analysis).
    • Compiles reports and charts from loss data to facilitate the review and analysis of the frequency and severity of issues to target mitigation efforts.
    • Collaborates with Risk Management Team to provide support in all areas of claims administration and safety as needed.
    • Hires, trains, develops, empowers, coaches, counsels, conducts performance and salary reviews, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, and disciplines, and recommends terminations as appropriate.
    • Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
    • Five years of experience in risk management, insurance, occupational safety, law, workers’ compensation, human resources, or a combination of the above.
    • Prior management experience required.
    • Experience with reading, analyzing and interpreting legal and technical documents and financial reports.
    • Knowledge of current and legally binding contractual language and terminology.
    • Extensive knowledge of applicable law, regulations, rules, procedures, and administration.
    • Good understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and occupational, safety and environmental regulations and law.
    • Strong proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Office, e-mail, and Internet.
    • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Tagalog preferred.
    • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
    • Native American hiring preference applies.
