  • Fabian Oil is currently seeking a full time Assistant Credit Manager to join our credit department. The Assistant Credit Manager will work closely with the Credit Manager to oversee Fabian Oil’s credit operations for both business and personal accounts. At Fabian, the credit department is responsible for ensuring payments for services are completed, determining payment methods based on credit history, and for monitoring / following up on past due accounts. Overall, the Assistant Credit Manager will oversee and work along with the credit department to develop methods to reduce the number of delinquent accounts.


    The Assistant Credit Manager will report to the Credit Manager and should expect to perform or assist with all the following duties:

    • Review and analyze new customer credit applications to establish credit lines and payment plans based on the customer’s credit information.
    • Research business credit applications to create a detailed analysis and overview and provides recommendations on new business prospects.
    • Monitor all serious past due accounts and attempt communications to reconcile the account as necessary.
    • Monitor Fleetnet and budget accounts to ensure payments are accurate and up to date.
    • Connect with customers who have delinquent accounts to establish payment plan options.
    • Collect payments from local businesses to ensure payments are made on time.
    • Consistently review collected data to develop, present, and implement new methods to reduce the number of past due accounts.
    • Perform skip tracing to ensure customer contact information is both current and accurate.
    • Assists in the management of the credit team.
    • Assist the credit department with the training of Customer Care Agents with regard to credit duties.
    • Maintain related reports and documentation regarding credit and collections.
    • Update, maintain, and monitor accounts that have been sent for legal assistance and maintains related legal documents.
    • May represent the company in small claims court proceedings related to delinquent accounts when credit manager is unavailable.

    The ideal candidate for the Assistant Credit Manager position should possess and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills. They should have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as the ability to remain patient, calm, and understanding with customers. A great deal of this position will involve communicating with customers via telephone, so customer service experience is a huge plus.


    Because the Assistant Credit Manager will have direct access to sensitive customer credit information, the ability to maintain confidentiality on the highest level is required.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit and collections. Candidates with credit and collections experience in the oil industry are highly preferred.
    • Associates degree OR equivalent in experience and/or training.
    • Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Proficient language and mathematical skills with ability to read and interpret written documents and spreadsheets, and numerical data and equations.
    • Ability to adapt to changes and work in an individual and teamwork environment.
    • Adheres to company safety guidelines.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
