Being a Credit Clerk communicates with the customers and other departments to solve the credit problems. May negotiate terms of payment to assist with collection of overdue balances. Additionally, Credit Clerk requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Credit Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Position Overview: An accounting position requiring sound knowledge of item processing, general ledger transactions, balancing, and reconciliations. Processes a variety of general ledger entries and performs various support functions as required as a part of the accounting and record keeping function of the credit union.  Pulls data from various sources and compiles into reports.  Work is performed under minimal supervision and in accordance with established procedures. Works in conjunction with the others in the Accounting Department to ensure timelines are achieved.

     

    Essential Job Functions

    • Follow all credit union policies and procedures; including policies and procedures for customer identification and all BSA requirements
    • Perform daily general ledger reconciliation and audits of the credit union's financial records and systems to ensure that all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner to aid members, staff, and management in accessing the most current information
    • Process adjustments and exceptions for share drafts, ACH (both ODFI and RDFI), cash letters, and shared branching, returns, and return check items
    • Complete Fedline tasks (i.e. incoming and outgoing wires, ACH and check)
    • Work well within a paperless environment
    • Support all Accounting functions related to general ledgers and corresponding subsidiary accounts
    • Conduct research and data compilation in order to complete analyses, draw conclusions, and articulate findings for decision making
    • Prepare reports and records for management as needed
    • Track and monitor supply ordering for all branches
    • Provide back-up support for various functions on the team to ensure the continuity of all support services during the absence of any other member of the Accounting Department

    Requirements:

    • An Associate's Degree in Accounting or commensurate experience in a financial institution
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word 
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, functions, etc.)
