Senior Credit Analyst

  • Basic Responsibilities

    • Spread statements and conduct appropriate credit analysis of financial information on all commercial account relationships: perform comparative analysis on companies with similar financial data, ratios on liquidity position, profit margin, etc.
    • May have experience in SBA lending programs and underwriting procedures (SOP)
    • Proficient in writing clearly and concisely to generate accurate analysis and on commercial borrowers and prospective accounts in a form acceptable to senior management.
    • Be proficient at and fully utilize the Loan Vantage application software to analyze and track the loan application through the appropriate steps.
    • Receive preliminary information on borrower from Loan Officers; review loan relationship; ensure proper loan approval documentation
    • Prepare and distribute reports as required
    • Lead and participate in training sessions focused at improving credit skills, technology, techniques, and efficiency.
    • Provide support and feedback to the lenders through analysis of loan transactions and offering insight, structuring suggestions, and risk identification and mitigation.
    • Research external sources in effort to improve the quality and insight of transaction analyses.

    • Ensure compliance with Bank’s loan policy and regulatory requirements
    • Provide high quality of service to the Bank’s external and internal customers
    • Ensure sound underwriting to accurately risk rate loans within the commercial portfolio.

    Vice President of Credit

    Compliance

    • knowledge of Bank policies and procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations
    • responsible for compliance regulations related to this position and receiving appropriate training including but not limited to:

    Annually

    • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
    • Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
    • USA Patriot Act
    • All other applicable compliance regulations are identified by subject matter experts and are listed in the master compliance training spreadsheet

    Other Functions

    • Work with the Loan Officers in preparing commercial credit underwriting approval documentation
    • Ensure activities within assigned functional area of responsibility follow Bank policy, and State and Federal Regulations
    • Work closely with Loan Officers to assist in monitoring the credit quality of assigned portfolio(s), and maintain appropriate risk rating, as well as review of financial covenants, and non-monetary events of default.
    • Act as back-up support for other members of department as needed.
    • Perform other duties as requested
    • Serve as advocate for credit on behalf of the Loan Officers in fielding questions that may be surfaced by Credit Administration as part of their underwriting process.

    • Prepare monthly and/or special reports as requested or assigned by the credit Manager
    • Assist credit manager & loan officers where necessary in the underwriting and maintenance of commercial account relationships with the bank

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent and seven or more years of experience in a Commercial Credit/Lending department.

    Equipment and Software

    Proficient computer skills; including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

    Other Qualifications

    • Knowledge of lending practices, Bank policies and procedures
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, discount, interest, profit and loss, commission, percentages, and apply basic arithmetic and mathematics to help resolve problem solving situations
    • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
    • Ability to exchange information with others clearly and concisely, to present ideas, facts, and technical information
    • Ability to identify task requirements, prioritize and monitor progress toward accomplishment
    • Ability to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishment; to cooperate and resolve conflicts; to recognize needs and be sensitive to others
    • Ability to systematically identify and mitigate risk, evaluate alternatives, and implement cost effective solutions
    • Ability to receive guidance and supervision; follow work rules, work procedures; meet deadlines, punctuality and attendance standards, etc.
    • Ability to periodically report progress and status and keep systems updated with accurate and timely data.
