Position Summary
The Business Services Credit Analyst will assess the overall creditworthiness of moderate to complex business loans requests, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Commercial and Industrial (C&I), SBA loan programs, and other collateral secured loans. This position involves evaluating risk, making credit recommendations, and structuring loans based on comprehensive analyses of cash flows, collateral, borrowers, guarantors, and tenants. Supports Business Services Department in maintaining high quality loan portfolios by actively managing risk and identifying business opportunities through partnerships with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and other team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess credit worthiness of existing and potential commercial loans by evaluating global cash flow; project / property specific cash flow; collateral analysis; borrower and guarantor analysis; industry and market analysis; and other inputs that may have an impact on a credit request during its lifecycle.
- Evaluate the borrower’s ability to generate income sufficient to repay existing and proposed debt through current and forecasted data scenarios. Identify, investigate, and escalate credit concerns or questions.
- Ensure that loans conform to the Credit Union’s Loan Policy, established guidelines, and procedures, including those of government agencies (i.e., NCUA, SBA and CA Guaranty), as appropriate.
- Prepare and present high quality Credit Memos summarizing loan request fundamentals, credit analysis and due diligence. Approve credit requests within delegated limits.
- Support loan Business Services team in maintaining a high-quality commercial loan portfolio by identifying business opportunities to mitigate risk in current loans and portfolio concentrations.
- Work with Business Loan Servicing and Operations to provide approval for risk rating upgrades and downgrades in the current credit portfolios.
- Responsible for monitoring the status of assigned pipeline and ensuring that loans are reviewed and underwritten in accordance with established expectations.
- Assist with various projects and initiatives. Work collaboratively with others to help support and achieve the overall goals of Business Services.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience or training.
- 5-7 years’ experience in related position; full knowledge of complex commercial and business loan underwriting, documentation preparation, funding, and applicable laws and regulations; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- 5-7 years’ experience in analysis and underwriting.
- 5-7 years’ experience in spreading, reviewing and analyzing business and personal financial information and tax returns.
- Must have extensive experience in commercial lending analysis and underwriting.
- Full knowledge of credit union lending policies, guidelines, and practices; and regulations.
- Intermediate or above level of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be a self-starter, with a strong drive to succeed and continually reach new goals.
- Must be a team player who can operate both within a group and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to make effective group and individual presentations.
- Verifiable job history showing stability, consistency, dependability, and accountability.
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.

The Business Services Credit Analyst position is a Grade 12.
- Salary Range: $91,370.86 to $137,056.30
- Target Range: $91,370.86 to $114,213.58
*The target range for entry in a new position is between the minimum and midpoint of the range, depending on experience and qualifications.
