Creative Manager is responsible for managing all phases of creative development work from concept to completion. Oversees the creation of art, photo, copy, and layout for creative projects. Being a Creative Manager implements policies and standards that reinforce the organization's branding strategy and quality goals. Manages and develops a team of designers, copywriters, project managers and vendors. Additionally, Creative Manager leads the development of creative briefs and utilizes design methodologies that meet the business objectives and timelines of the organization and stakeholders. Evaluates and adopts the most effective tools and techniques across all media. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Creative Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Creative Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description:

    Location: This position is based in Santa Fe, NM.

    Meow Wolf is seeking a dynamic and adventurous Senior Creative Director to lead and execute the creative vision of a portion of a new exhibition space, working hand-in-hand with Project Leadership to balance the project's ambition and resources. The ideal candidate is skilled at driving teams toward consensus and takes pride in supporting the creative vision of many contributors. Working alongside other Creative Directors and Creative Producers, the Sr. Creative Director's ultimate goal is to make the exhibition unlike anything Meow Wolf has ever seen or made before.

    As a critical member of our cross-functional team, the Sr. Creative Director will serve as an intermediary between the project's large creative teams. This person will, in partnership with the Creative Director and Creative Producer, drive a team of artists, creators and designers (such as Art Directors, Narrative Leads, Content Directors, Artists, contractors, etc.). A Sr. Creative Director is highly imaginative, a proven leader and mentor, effective at synthesizing and distilling creative vision for all the active disciplines in Meow Wolf, and is comfortable setting expectations and deadlines for many types of projects and people. They must be steadfast and strategic as they work within Meow Wolf's highly ambitious and collaborative model. The Sr. Creative Director will assess how all aspects of the creative vision come together, and thus, will be accountable for the overall impact.

    Requirements

    You will lead your team in establishing the overall creative vision of Meow Wolf's new exhibition and make it "out of this world," thereby aweing and captivating our guests.

    How you will do it...

    • Carry forth and augment, the design vision set forth by those contributing to ideation as part of the project's Blue Sky phase.

    • Lead and maintain the overall artist creative vision for the project team.

    • Partner with Creative Directors and Creative Producers to manage scope/schedule/budget for Creative efforts across the Project.

    • Ensure creative intent is met across all aspects of the Project Team.

    • Work with the Artist Curation team on the socially responsible curation of artists both in and out of house.

    • Make fast and definitive decisions while leaving room for input from other creatives and artists.

    • Partner with the Creative Producer to develop routine creative briefs, elevating any decisions that may impact scope, schedule or budget.

    • Set Creative Guidelines with the various team members for the output of all Fabrication teams including Art, Fabrication and Tech.

    • Lead a collaborative team, allowing for multiple disciplines to contribute artistically to ideation and project execution.

    • Present updates to scope and creative vision to executive and leadership teams, as well as to other creative departments.

    • Hold space for internal and external artist collaboration, and be comfortable with maintaining ambiguity.

    • Ensure creative cohesion across the exhibit.

    To be successful in this role...

    • You bring a minimum of 8 years of Creative Direction experience in themed entertainment, immersive art or a directly related industry, shepherding project from ideation to execution.

    • You possess strong communication/collaboration skills and the ability to work and thrive in a team environment.

    • You bring an open mind to collaborate with individuals of varying personalities and artistic styles.

    • You problem solve and ideate quickly with a host of project partners with varying levels of expertise.

    • You have the ability to lead endeavors and facilitate meetings.

    • You come with creative artistry and an illustrative capacity, along with an understanding of various fabrication techniques and materiality.

    • You hold a knowledge of interactive systems and technologies, as well as digital and physical installation standards for non-linear experiences.

    • This position is based in Santa Fe, NM, and a company laptop will be provided.

    • This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm MT or 10 am to 6 pm MT - occasionally requiring flexibility to work during evenings or weekends based on business needs, as well as travel to off-site locations.
