The Strafford Creative Preschool is looking for a full-time Classroom Aide for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond.
We are a small, educational community for children 3 to 5 years old. We believe that children learn through play, authentic experiences, social engagement, and positive guidance. We honor children as individuals as well as meaningful members of our community. In creating a positive community for young children we provide an environment that is safe, nurturing, and inclusive with opportunities for play, exploration, work, wonder, and problem-solving.
The Classroom Aide is an integral part of our team who works alongside our teaching team to support children, play, curriculum and teachers to provide a warm, nurturing, and engaging play-based experience for young children. Nature-based learning is a part of our program and being in an outside learning environment is part of the position. We are seeking a teammate who is collaborative, flexible, supportive, and above all – who delights in being with young children!
Position Summary
The Classroom Aide works collaboratively with the teaching team to ensure the successful operation of the program. The Aide works to support the success of each child and each teacher. Includes duties such as:
· Set-up and prepare snack. Clean up after snack.
· Set-up and assist with lunch.
· Bathroom or diaper changing all children when schedule dictates.
· Wash up after art projects, as needed.
· Interact with children (welcoming, helping with goodbyes, reading, playing, doing puzzles, etc.) and families (listening to directions and changes of schedules or events happening at home and passing on the information to other staff members).
· Assist children with projects.
· Support teachers by doing duties needed to keep them with the children as much as possible.
· Help children gather belongings to go home.
· End of the day clean-up.
· Attend staff meetings.
· Help build a supportive and inclusive team.
· For the right candidate, we will consider adding teaching responsibilities and group lead-time.
Skills:
- First aid certification
- Experience working in a childcare setting
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
