We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Chess Coach to join our team and guide young learners in the exciting world of chess.
Responsibilities:
As a Chess Coach at the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center, your primary responsibility will be to assist beginners to intermediate level players, aged 4-14, in developing their chess skills and strategic thinking.
Your role will include:
1. Conducting Chess Sessions:
- Lead engaging and interactive chess sessions on Fridays from 4:30-5:30 PM.
- Tailor lessons to accommodate various skill levels, from beginners to intermediate players.
2. Individualized Instruction:
- Provide one-on-one guidance to students, addressing specific needs and challenges.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
3. Curriculum Development:
- Develop and implement a progressive curriculum that aligns with the varying skill levels of the participants.
- Introduce age-appropriate chess concepts and strategies.
4. Encouraging Participation:
- Promote active participation and a love for the game among the students.
- Organize friendly chess tournaments and activities to enhance engagement.
5. Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and achievements.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in chess, with a solid understanding of game rules and strategies.
- Previous experience coaching chess to children, preferably in a group setting.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude, with the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Requirements:
- Availability on Fridays from 4:30-5:30 PM for coaching sessions (currently). If the club grows and needs an additional or new meeting time, we can create this according to your availability. If you are a parent, your children are welcome to join for free as long as they are not a distraction.
- Chess coaching certification (preferred, but not mandatory).
