Crane Operator operates a crane to lift, move, load, unload, or position heavy materials or equipment. Performs daily safety and performance checks of crane equipment and may perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating or checking fluid levels. Being a Crane Operator communicates via hand or radio signals to receive or convey instructions. Identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols. Additionally, Crane Operator maintains documentation of activities including time logs and inspection reports to ensure compliance with regulations and operating procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require NCCCO Certification. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Crane Operator works under moderate supervision. Job Description
Applicant must be knowledgeable and experienced in crane operation activities of safe operation, rigging, signaling, load calculations, lift plans, etc. Able to operate 70 Sumitomo SC 700 and 70 American 5300 cranes and direct activities of ground support personnel.
Work Environment
All construction is in outside weather conditions where employees are expected to dress appropriately.
Hours of Work
This a full time position with frequent long hours and weekend work. A work week that may vary dependent on weather, time of year, and other concerns is normally 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday with work schedule every other Saturday.
Travel/Location
Present projects are in North Wilkesboro, NC and Spartanburg, SC. Workers receive housing and meal per diem allowances.
Wages
Wage rate dependent on experience but usually $25 or so depending on experience.
