JOB DESCRIPTION

Crane Operator Recycling

Summary: The crane operator will be loading and unloading material from various containers such as roll offs, gondolas, dump bodies, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Unloads customer vehicles including small or medium trucks or semi-trailers
• Sorts material in appropriate areas
• Insures torch cutter is supplied with material to torch
• Inspects all loads according to yard standards, ensuring rail cars and semi-trailers are safe to leave the yard
• Always lock and/or tag equipment when working on or around crane in accordance with company policy
• Operates crane is a safe manner at all times
• Insures that the maintenance department is contacted if any mechanical or maintenance needs to be preformed on the crane.
• Operator performers maintenance on the crane before starting work and at the end of his shift (pre and post check)
• Drives through the yard in a safe manner while moving scrap material
• Must wear proper and approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); Prior experience operating heavy machinery preferred but not required

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is constantly moving about pulling up into a crane, bending and reaching. They frequently move about and position themselves inside tight and cramped space. Ability to work in various environmental conditions such as extreme heat or cold, dusty, dirty and/or wet conditions. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and make adjustments as necessary.
