Crane Operator operates a crane to lift, move, load, unload, or position heavy materials or equipment. Performs daily safety and performance checks of crane equipment and may perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating or checking fluid levels. Being a Crane Operator communicates via hand or radio signals to receive or convey instructions. Identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols. Additionally, Crane Operator maintains documentation of activities including time logs and inspection reports to ensure compliance with regulations and operating procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require NCCCO Certification. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Crane Operator works under moderate supervision. As a Crane Operator, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of various construction projects by operating heavy-duty cranes to lift and move materials, equipment, and structures. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of construction operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and precision.

    What you'll do:

    1. Crane Operation: Safely and efficiently operate a variety of cranes, including tower cranes, mobile cranes, and crawler cranes, as per project requirements.
    2. Load Management: Properly inspect and secure loads before lifting to ensure stability and prevent accidents or damage to materials and equipment.
    3. Site Setup: Assist in setting up the crane, including leveling and securing it, and ensuring its stability and safety.
    4. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with the construction team, supervisors, and signal persons to ensure safe and accurate crane movements.
    5. Safety Compliance: Comply with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to property.
    6. Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of the crane and associated equipment, identifying and reporting any faults or issues for timely repairs and maintenance.
    7. Rigging: Skillfully rig and de-rig loads, employing appropriate equipment and techniques to handle various materials safely.
    8. Lift Planning: Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to plan and execute lifts, considering factors such as weight, dimensions, reach, and site conditions.
    9. Weather Awareness: Stay vigilant about changing weather conditions and their potential impact on crane operations, taking necessary precautions to ensure safety.
    10. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily crane activities, including lift logs, inspections, and maintenance records.
    11. Training: Keep up-to-date with the latest crane operation techniques, safety guidelines, and certifications, attending relevant training programs as required.

    What you'll need to succeed:

    1. Valid and current Crane Operator certification/license.
    2. NCCCO Certified or willing to take the course to become certified.
    3. Have a CDL driver’s license and be willing to travel on short notice.
    4. Proven experience as a Crane Operator in the construction industry.
    5. In-depth knowledge of crane operation techniques, familiar with 300-ton cranes, rigging procedures, and load management.
    6. Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices for crane operations.
    7. Ability to interpret lift plans, blueprints, and specifications.
    8. Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception.
    9. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    10. Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
    11. Attention to detail and a commitment to precision and safety.
    12. Punctuality and reliability with a strong work ethic.
