Court Clerk supports paralegals with various tasks required in the preparation of materials for court cases. Inputs and maintains tracking data for all case materials. Being a Court Clerk obtains requested files and assembles required materials for court proceedings. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Court Clerk typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Court Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Incumbent serves as Bailiff for Martin County Circuit Court, responsible for providing
courtroom security, and overseeing Court proceedings.
DUTIES:
Answers inquiries and provides information to attorneys, litigants, and the general public,
regarding Court's adopted Local Rules, cases, and all other established procedures and policies for filing, prosecuting, defending, and maintaining claims and actions.
Announces entrance of judge into courtroom.
Maintains security, order, and civility in the Courtroom and in Court Offices for the effective
administration of justice.
Answers telephone and greets office visitors, providing information and assistance, answering questions, determining nature of call, taking messages, and/or directing to more appropriate office or individual.
Occasionally attends prescribed in-service and/or training programs for certification in
specialized law enforcement areas, as assigned or required.
Coordinates all functions necessary for seating of a jury, including information, lodging,
verification, lists, seating, escorting, personal assistance, form completion, meals/snacks,
supervision, and verdict notification.
Coordinates transportation of incarcerated individuals, security for court proceedings, emergency assistance, and segregation of witness.
Performs various clerical and administrative duties, such as retrieving files for scheduled court hearings, checking service on files set for small claims, maintaining an internal calendaring system, preparing and placing orders for office supplies, copying and distributing all court orders and maintaining courtroom, jury room, court offices, and maintaining vendors list.
Performs related duties as assigned.
