    The West Virginia University College of Law and the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCCPS) are seeking applications for a Psychologist position.

    About the Opportunity

    This clinician will be housed at the WVU College of Law and will be responsible for providing brief assessment, triage, linkage, and short-term intervention and care management and support as appropriate for law students with diverse presenting behavioral health concerns. As an integral member of CCCPS and Law School teams, this Psychologist will provide a range of clinical and outreach services and will participate as needed in the supervision and training of professional trainees. Under the direction of the leadership at the Carruth Center this position will deliver clinical services at the WVU College of Law and (and initially one day a week at CCCPS). Clinician will report to the Director of the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services or his/her/their designee with a secondary/nonclinical reporting line to the Assistant Dean for Student Services and Engagement at the WVU College of Law.

    What you'll do:

    • Provide multiculturally informed in-person and virtual intake evaluations, assessments, triages, consultation, treatment planning, brief counseling (substance use disorder and broader mental health), group counseling, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation, and case management for law students and occasionally students in other colleges.
    • Facilitate student access and transition to appropriate mental health providers for ongoing pharmacologic and longer-term behavioral therapies.
    • Provide case management for law students who require care that is more specialized or longer term.
    • Participate in the staffing of the Center's after-hours crisis phone (initial responses and crisis stabilization provided by ProtoCall staff).
    • Provide consultation and outreach to clients and their families, WVU faculty/staff, and the university community.
    • Provide and documents risk assessments and risk reduction interventions.
    • Work collaboratively with CCCPS staff and College of Law faculty and staff to establish suicide prevention and risk reduction strategies.
    • In consultation with the CCCPS leadership team, provide strategic consultation to College of Law faculty and leadership and other campus collaborators to develop and support various initiatives promoting suicide prevention, student health, resilience and wellness.
    • Develop, provide, and assess consultation and outreach to students and their families, WVU faculty/staff, and the university community.
    Qualifications
    • Completed doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D.) from an APA accredited program.
    • Supervised practica in providing psychological services, including adult outpatient individual counseling / therapy, group psychotherapy, and assessment.
    • One year, full-time - Predoctoral Internship in an APA-accredited Professional Psychology program (or its equivalent) that includes a primary rotation in adult outpatient counseling / therapy and counseling is preferred.
    • Experience providing clinical services in a multidisciplinary setting.
    • Experience providing services to diverse, college-age students or other adults (e.g., students of color, LGBTQ students, international students, non-traditional students, military veterans).
    • Experience with Excel, Microsoft Access or similar software.
    • Ability to navigate and to collaborate with university and healthcare systems.
    • Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and affirmative care for all students.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document and evaluate multiculturally-sensitive assessment, intake/ triage/crisis assessment, individual, and group counseling, and consultation/outreach across a range of mental health concerns.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to understand the role and functioning of Student Life and Academic Affairs policies and procedures to facilitate university-wide retention efforts.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct training and consultation with and linkage to academic support entities in a university setting.
    • Ability to utilize an electronic health record system.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with a team.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently provide care management and to actively identify and decrease barriers to care.
    • Skills and abilities required to assess and respond to unpredictable clinical presentations and related calls from campus and parent stakeholders in the context of ethical and legal parameters.
    • Experience with data management and related software.
    • Practical and ethical knowledge regarding the provision of telehealth services.
    • Demonstrate clinical competence and skills working with substance use and other co-occurring disorders.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical and prevention services for the law student population.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and sustain partnerships with the College of Law and CCPPS faculty and staff.
    • Geographical availability to provide timely on-campus emergency responses during on-call weeks.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently participate in the supervision, assessment and education of trainees.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently participate in clinical assessment activities.
    • Knowledge, skills, and expertise to effectively manage program development, implementation, and assessment.
