What does an Estimation Manager do?

The Estimation Manager manages the estimation team and oversees the project estimation process, ensuring accurate cost estimates, timelines, and resource requirements.

What does your day-to-day look like?

Estimating Projects

• Review upcoming projects for readiness and accuracy and finalize any additional details as necessary.
• Gather and process information to develop accurate cost estimates, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment of project objectives and expectations.
• Assist in estimating complex projects, allocating approximately 50% of the weekly workload to estimation tasks.

Team Management

• Provide leadership and direction to the estimation team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Manage workload distribution among team members to ensure timely completion of estimation tasks.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Implement and improve training programs for new estimators, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
• Identify opportunities for team members' professional development and career advancement.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve the estimation process and enhance the accuracy of cost estimates and resource requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and best practices.

What do you need to have?

• Degree in Project Management, Business Management, or a related field preferred
• Proficiency in ERP and Estimation software (Measure Square preferred)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Proven experience in project estimation (2-4 years), preferably in commercial estimation
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently sit at a desk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment is in an office setting, with no outdoor exposure during the workday. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit or stand at a desk for the entire day.  The noise level in this work environment may range from quiet to moderate.
