Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Additionally, Cost Estimation Engineer coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cost Estimation Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     SUMMARY

    Bering Straits Native Corporation, is seeking a qualified Cost Coordinator to work in Anchorage, AK.  This is an entry-level position which supports the Business Development Cost Team in generating complex financial spreadsheets for cost proposals in response to government RFPs and discussions with customers.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Work with functional area experts determines necessary resources for projects.
    • Gathers details and then compiles and analyzes data to estimate all project performance costs to meet government specifications.
    • Assists in developing aggressive and competitive proposals to address government customer requirements in a cost-effective manner.
    • Develops and employs costing factors and methodologies for materials, equipment, tools, labor and vehicles.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

    Required (Minimum) Qualifications

    • High proficiency in MS Excel, or estimating database is mandatory.
    • Must be task oriented, self-motivated with the inherent ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines and work as team member.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

    • Some knowledge of Service Contract Act, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and other Government-related applicable standards and regulations is desirable.
    • Ten key by touch is helpful as is proficiency in MS Word.
    • Ability to write and edit cost narratives utilizing MS Word.

    Preferred

    • Two years’ experience with cost estimate development, payroll, job costing or related field preferred.
    • A bachelor's degree or demonstrated progress towards a degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Accounting or related field also desired.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • No supervisory responsibilities.

    ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

    As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
