Cost Estimation Engineer estimates costs for construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other implementation projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements. Collects data and analyzes all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Being a Cost Estimation Engineer identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes. Additionally, Cost Estimation Engineer coordinates with project management, engineering, procurement and other project stakeholders. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cost Estimation Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. - Inventory reconciliation, research, and analysis of variances.
- Create and maintain all Standard Costs within ERP system.
- Provide data query and financial reporting support through application of knowledge and spreadsheet database and query tools.
- Report on margins by product line and plant.
- Identify and analyze obsolete inventory.
- Reconciliation of raw materials, work in process & finished goods accounts at month end.
- GL account analysis & reconciliation.
- Assist in creating journal entries for month-end close.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE and SKILLS- 2 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or comparable experience.
- Analytical mindset and high personal commitment to quality and accuracy of work.
- Strong computer skills, including MRP/ERP and advanced Excel skills.
- Thorough understanding of inventory management, costing, overhead allocation methods and methods of data capture to accomplish these tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
