Cost Engineer - Construction jobs in Glen Burnie, MD

Petrie Construction is a rapidly growing, nationwide general contractor seeking a lightly experienced Assistant Estimator to join our team! We are looking for a career-oriented individual interested in growing with the company. This individual will work directly with the Estimator.

Responsibilities:

• Work together with Estimator from start through project completion.
• Assist to develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals to clients.
• Work on multiple company bids simultaneously and delivering in accordance with deadline objectives.
• Operate and maintain proficiency in all internal estimating systems, technologies, and software.
• Support all aspects of subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes.
• Process RFP, RFQ, and internal pricing request and facilitate broadcast announcements of bidding opportunity.
• Competently draft, proof, audit, and deliver both private and public proposals.
• Qualify subcontractor bids for completeness and compliance.
• Ensure company compliance with bidding regulations and goals of each project.
• Intermittent travel to pre-bid meetings.

Skills & Proficiencies

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking, management and math skills.
• Proven analytical and interpretive skills in preparing comprehensive, accurate and strategic bids and estimates.
• Ability to communicate effectively with office and field personalities, internally and externally.
• Strong proficiency with Excel preferred - be comfortable with creating standard and custom Excel formulas.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel & Outlook and Bluebeam.
• Some experience with CPM scheduling, with experience in Microsoft Project, Primavera, or other scheduling platforms.
• Strong construction field knowledge.
• Familiarity with bid solicitation platforms such as BuildingConnected, ISqFt, etc.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload with minimal supervision or direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil or similar Engineering OR 3 years in commercial or industrial construction in advisory capacity.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
