Collects and coordinates procurement and other cost information used to develop cost forecasting, cost control strategies, and project risk analysis. Being a Cost Engineer - Construction performs data analysis to identify project trends and budget deviations and highlight cost underruns and overruns. Has extensive technical knowledge of processes and materials specific to the type of project. Additionally, Cost Engineer - Construction experienced with the cost-estimating methods best suited to the nature of the project. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Cost Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. - Analyze performance metrics inclusive of those above and others to understand plant performance and make recommendations to Finance Business Partner and General Manager.
- Work with operational department managers to understand cost performance, analyze period variances from standards or forecast.
- Support Finance Business Partner in preparation of Budget/Forecast/Period End Variance Analysis cycle.
- Inventory valuation:
- Prepare inventory reconciliation
- Calculate reserves for Excess & Obsolete inventory
- Analyze WIP aging and work with operations to address old work orders
- Standard Cost Analysis:
- Analyze over/under absorption
- Review job close variances
- Review PPV variances
- Update Standard cost rates
- Perform profitability analysis (by PN and/or by Customer)
- Maintain/Update system set ups:
- If a new department is added, determine if it is costed or not
- If a new department is costed, determine cost drivers and rates
- Set up new resources, Overhead and rates in Oracle
- If WIP costing is done outside of Oracle, ensure that Oracle and other systems are in sync (e.g. have same rates and calculate same product cost )
- Support VPL (with Controller either contributing or just reviewing)
- Month end close tasks:
- Open/close inventories
- Prepare inventory related journal entries
- Coordinate/execute Quarter sample audits of Raw, WIP & FG inventory

Education and Experience:Education:- BS degree in Accounting or Finance with 2-5 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
