    Purpose of the Role

    The responsibilities of a Job Cost Accountant include but are not limited to: completing monthly client payment applications, processing trade pay applications, reviewing and processing accounts payable, tracking and reviewing receivables and ensuring overall compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Additionally, you will ensure overall contractual compliance, providing accounting support and training for construction site management team, and performing other related activities and duties as assigned. This is an in-person position at the company headquarters office located in Englewood.

    Functions / Duties

    • Prepare monthly billings to clients
    • Prepare reconciliations of billings to actual costs
    • Verify and process subcontractor requests for payment
    • Resolve subcontract queries efficiently and effectively resulting in the development of trust-based working relationships and communication with subcontractors/suppliers/subconsultants
    • Respond to project related vendor queries regarding invoicing, compliance and/or payments
    • Communicate non-compliance issues to subcontractors as needed. Actively coordinate in-house resolution when applicable
    • Prepare and authorize timely payment to subcontractors/suppliers/subconsultants, primarily through Textura
    • Process project related trade invoices; verifying receipt of item or service, sales tax calculations, and appropriate authorization for payment
    • Provide proactive and responsive internal and external customer service
    • Ability to provide analytics or reconciliation (costs, billings, subcontracts, labor reports (including hours, rates, and iovd))
    • Sales/Use Tax compliance/reconciliation/audits – Experience with Colorado taxes preferred
    • Assist with project related audits
    • Collaborate with peer job costs accountants to meet department and group deadlines, backup/support/cover project related tasks while peer JCA is unavailable/PTO/vacation
    • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Qualifications / Experience

    • Three years of construction project accounting experience and/or five years progressive accounting experience and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • Experience with multiple billing methods (Cost Plus, Lump Sum, T&M, etc.) – GC experience preferred
    • Adept at operating under dynamic processes
    • Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
    • Strong communications skills: ability to effectively convey information to others, and actively listen to employee/customer questions
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently while updating management on portfolio progress as well as supporting the accounting team
    • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure (competing/overlapping deadlines)
    • High degree of ethics: ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to sensitive information, and conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner that demonstrates integrity, trust, care and collaboration
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technology (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, OneNote, Power BI)
    • Experience with a document imaging and workflow system, (i.e. Perceptive Content, CMIC, and/or Textura is preferred)

      • Occasionally required to climb, crawl, stoop and negotiate ladders, stairs or other routes at and within project sites in order to fulfill duties
      • Constantly uses verbal and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as E-Mail and telephone/cell
      • Constantly employs eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery such as computer keyboard
      • Constantly utilizes full scope of visual capacity to travel to project sites and observe/verify project progress in addition to operating automated office equipment
