    Description

    ACCOUNTING MANAGER

    FISCAL

    FULL TIME EXEMPT

    General Summary: Organizes, directs and monitors all accounting activities. Maintains accounting systems that ensure the proper accounting and recording of Thrive Behavioral Health and its affiliated corporation's resources; provide financial statements, analysis, and other key management reports.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Manage, monitor, and evaluate the activities and performance of the accounting staff in payroll, payables, grant receivables, assets and pension.
    • Monitor current department accounting systems and procedures and recommends revisions.
    • Respond to governmental inquires and directs the preparation of governmental reports and tax payments.
    • Monitor and analyzes the cash position, confirms the bank activity, and prepares cash flow forecasts.
    • Administer preparation of monthly financial reporting and performs analysis.
    • Supervise disbursements of funds through the payroll and payables registers according to company policy and purchasing authorizations.
    • Direct the preparation of work papers, schedules, reports and other required documentation for all financial audits and serve as the day to day point of contact with auditors.
    • Coordinate monthly and year-end closings and prepare financial statements.
    • Assist in the preparation of Thrive's budget, report budget variances and analyze causes of variances in coordination with Director of Finance.
    • Assist Director of Finance in designing and implementing internal control systems;
    • Monitor contract billing.
    • Create, compile, analyze, summarize and present reports to internal and external customers.
    • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with Thrive Policies & Procedures, Fiscal Office Standards & Procedures, contract requirements and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
    • Monitor Rep Payee program.
    • Initiate budgetary recommendations and controls.
    • Provide regular supervision of program staff (including time sheets, performance evaluation).
    • Recruit, interview, screen, select, and orient/train program staff in conjunction with Director of Finance.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Attend all agency/department required training and meetings within the prescribed period.
    • Attend all Safety Training programs and be able to describe his/her responsibilities related to the general safety, department safety, and specific job-related hazards and responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Education, Experience and Competencies:

    • Bachelor Degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
    • Two (2) years of supervisory experience and five (5) years progressive general accounting experience in a computerized environment.
    • Demonstrates expertise with computer spread sheet software.
    • Experience with third party reimbursements preferred.

    Certifications, Licenses Requirements:

    • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance which meets Rhode Island minimum standards required, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the job.
