Cost Accountant jobs in Washington

Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant will perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related budget reports.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning expenses.
• Develops systems and procedures for accumulation systems and/or cost accounting functions.
• Determines fixed costs such as wages, rent, and insurance.
• Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs.
• Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies.
• Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports.
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins.
• Performs month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Determines and recommends cost savings solutions.
• Provides product sample costs for General Accounting.
• Work with Sales team members on RFP’s.
• Oversee Inventory valuation.
• Lead implementation of standard costs annually.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as accounting software. Familiarity with ERP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (not required but considered a plus).
• Strong organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
• High aptitude for Financial Analysis.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
• SQL or other data query skill set.
• Ability to manage confidential information.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• 2 years of experience in cost accounting preferred.
• CMA Preferred

Salary: $68,000 – $80,000/yr DOE
