Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team in the construction and development sector. The Cost Accountant will play a vital role in analyzing and controlling costs associated with construction projects, land development, and property management. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis: Analyze construction costs, including materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment, to identify variances and opportunities for cost reduction.
Project Budgeting: Assist in the development of project budgets and forecasts, providing input and analysis to support decision-making and project profitability.
Job Costing: Calculate and review job costs for each construction project, ensuring accuracy and completeness in cost allocation and tracking.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels for construction materials and equipment, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate pricing and terms with vendors and subcontractors, optimizing purchasing decisions.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze cost reports and financial statements for construction projects, providing insights and recommendations to management.
Cost Control: Implement cost control measures and process improvements to optimize construction efficiency and reduce costs.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements related to cost accounting and project financial management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3 years of experience in cost accounting in the construction or development industry.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices specific to construction projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, with experience in construction management systems (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
