Correctional Officer, Sr. jobs in New Hampshire

Correctional Officer, Sr. enforces rules and regulations in a prison, jail or other holding facility. Presides over prisoners awaiting trial or those who have been convicted of a crime. Being a Correctional Officer, Sr. oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer, Sr. documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Firearms Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     The Merrimack County Department of Corrections serves the community and its criminal justice system by providing security, supervision, and assistance to persons remanded to our custody. Our policy is to meet or exceed the standards set by the American Correctional Association, the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare, the New Hampshire Association of Counties, and the Merrimack County Board of Commissioners.

    Our Correctional Officers are focused on providing a safe and secure environment while managing the daily care, custody, and control of the inmates under correctional supervision.

    Required Education & Experience

    EDUCATION: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
    EXPERIENCE: Prior Correctional experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities with or without reasonable accommodation as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    CERTIFICATION: Prior Correctional experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities with or without reasonable accommodation as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Correctional Officer by the New Hampshire Association of Counties. NH Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    A drug screen & background check will be required of all conditional hires

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $20.65 - $28.57 per hour
