Correctional Officer, Sr. jobs in Kansas

Correctional Officer, Sr. enforces rules and regulations in a prison, jail or other holding facility. Presides over prisoners awaiting trial or those who have been convicted of a crime. Being a Correctional Officer, Sr. oversees prisoner conduct and safety. Supervises prisoners during meals, recreation, work and other daily activities. Additionally, Correctional Officer, Sr. documents violations and takes appropriate disciplinary actions. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Firearms Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Correctional Officer, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Minimum requirements include being a United States Citizen, 20 years of age, High School Graduate or Equivalency, no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude. The successful applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to a personal interview, applicants should anticipate a pre-employment physical and drug screening. Shift work should be expected and the successful applicant will have regular / daily contact with pre-trial detainees and convicted inmates. Starting wage is $15.00 / hour along with a competitive benefits package.
