    The following position is to join our RTX Corporate team:

    Director, Government Relations (On-site)

    This position in RTX Global Government Relations (GGR) supports the interests in the executive branch of the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C. with a particular focus on the Department of State. The position will focus on working with other elements of the GGR team to build and foster relationships with foreign government, U.S. Government, and business leaders while raising RTX’s profile and communicating the company’s strategic business interests.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Responsible for identifying and supporting policymaking opportunities that advance the corporation’s objectives and successful execution of the RTX long- range plan associated with the Department of State (DoS) and Bureau of Political-Military Affairs (PolMil)
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive external engagement strategy to achieve the company’s policy priorities as it relates to DoS/PolMil
    • Provide analysis, insight and recommendations to the Executive Director of Military Affairs/Exec Branch/OSD in regard to policy, regulatory and legislative matters that may affect the achievement of the corporation’s business objectives as they relate to DoS and PolMil.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key government officials to identify opportunities of aligned interest, shape national security policy & influence laws and regulations in support of all RTX products and RTX presence in Washington, DC to help create a platform on which the corporation’s policy positions on national security can be articulated.
    • Develop partnerships within the government and business community to advance policy issues and identify opportunities for external engagement and build strong relationships across industry (e.g., peer companies, partners and suppliers, industry associations and think tanks).
    • Organize events with RTX executives, key military and executive branch leaders, appointed and elected officials to elevate RTX partnerships in advancing our national security policy priorities and business objectives.
    • Coordinate and integrate DoS/PolMil activities across all other government relations activities within the Global Government Relations organization.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate business functions and work proactively to keep them well-informed about political, legislative, and regulatory developments impacting policy priorities and business activities involving Dos/PolMil. Work across the enterprise developing strategies and programs to advance RTX national security policy priorities and business objectives.
    • Engage with industry associations and think tanks to inform and influence national security policymakers, regulatory and legislative decision-makers on those public policy issues affecting RTX business, business objectives, values, and company reputation.
    • Manage external consultants who assist the corporation in representing the policy and regulatory objectives of RTX.
    • Represent the corporation at policy meetings and regulatory hearings, help prepare company leaders for government testimony when required, and provide briefings to government officeholders and professional staffs as required.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years’ experience.
    • Demonstrated active or recent past engagement with Pentagon decision-makers and non- governmental/non-profit organizations such as industry associations and think tanks.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of US policy, legislation and regulation concerning US national security issues.
    • Progressive work experience in driving large-scale projects across an organization with demonstrated results.
    • Aerospace and avionics experience preferred, especially with major defense and commercial aircraft and/or aircraft programs.
    • Ability to communicate complex documents to include warfighting concepts, military doctrine, executive orders, regulatory and legislative language.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools/sites that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
    • Active Top Secret Security Clearance.

    The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

    Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
